Latest Update from Silx
February 3, 2021
0

We can’t quite believe that we are in February already and that the pandemic has been going on for almost a year. As you all know we are in another national lockdown and we just wanted to clarify what that means for Silx and let you know what we are currently offering.

TEEN BAR
The Teen Bar sessions still remain closed. We have Virtual Youth sessions every Monday, Thursday and Friday at 4pm, please come and join us on these sessions, they are a great fun way to catch up with your friends and youth workers and there are lots of opportunities for you to win prizes and vouchers. The calls are held on ZOOM and the meeting ID is 365 922 3011, please message a worker for the password. Workers are continuously updating our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages and are available to speak to 7 days a week. Workers will continue to message and text young people regularly just to check in too!

EMPLOYABILITY PROJECT
Although the drop in still remains closed we are still able to offer one to one socially distanced appointments inside our building during lockdown to those of you that require our support. These appointments must be pre-arranged with a worker and take place on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays between 12pm-4pm. If you require an appointment ring, text or message a worker and we will get you in. The building is COVID safe with a sanitising station when you come in, your temperature will be checked on arrival and we will take your details or ask you to scan the QR code for test and trace. We request that all young people that attend wear a face covering and follow social distancing and adhere to our one way system whilst you are here. We are still offering all of our usual support remotely which includes online courses that can be done at home, CVs, cover letters, assistance with applying for benefits and much more… Please contact us if you require support and are 16-25 we will be more than happy to help you. Also, to any of you that are in year 11 and don’t know what to do with yourself next year get in touch and we can help you look through your options.

DETACHED WORK
You will have seen our workers out and about on the streets since June, these sessions are still taking place during lockdown. Although we are out we do advise that you stay at home and stay safe. Although we will of course chat to you if we see you we do need you to remember that the rules do require you to stay home and not mix with others from outside of your household. Our detached teams are currently out every evening Monday-Saturday 5pm-7pm and Saturday afternoons 1pm-3pm covering various locations around Blyth and Newsham alongside our colleagues from Newsham and New Delaval Youth Forum. All staff can be easily identified with a Uniform and ID. The Police are aware that we are out and welcome our presence on the streets during this current lockdown.

We want to take this opportunity to tell you all how proud we are of how you are handling yet another lockdown, it has been an incredibly testing time for everyone and not being able to attend school or youth projects like ours will be having an effect on some of you. Please, please, please don’t suffer in silence if you are struggling we are always just a message or a phone call away to help you! Lets all keep sticking to the rules and doing what we all need to do to get back on track and hopefully we can all be back together soon!

Stay Safe x
