Today we will be getting to know Sarah, Sarah has just returned to work following Maternity leave so she may be a new face to some of you but she has actually worked at Silx now for 7 years…..
How long have you been a youth worker?
I’ve been a youth worker for 7 years
How long have you worked at Silx?
I’ve been at Silx since 2013, I was a volunteer to begin with then I was given a job.
Best thing about being a youth worker?
Watching a young person succeed and progress. I have met lots of young people who were shy and had no confidence and now they are really confident and are achieving their goals, it’s a great feeling watching someone achieve. I also love that no day is the same and that we have many different roles within our job, its a great job to have.
What are you doing to keep busy and what are you missing the most during lockdown?
I have a three year old daughter and a 9 month old son so they are keeping me busy, I am working from home and updating instagram and the other social media sites to keep in touch with you guys and getting involved with our daily Zoom chats, I have also been making sure I get out for a walk once a day. I am missing seeing my extended family and being able to take my kids out to the park, beach, soft play etc.
Where is the first place you are going to go when lockdown is over?
I will probably go and see my Mam and my Sister as I am missing them so much and then come into work to see all of you! I have missed you all being on Maternity Leave and now lockdown.
What is the first thing you are going to do when lockdown is over?
Probably take my kids to the big park near our house; my daughter is really missing it! Then I won’t lie we will probably head straight to the McDonalds drive thru, who doesn’t love a Maccy D’s?
Favourite colour?
I love Purple and Green
Favourite song?
My Favourite song is probably Mr Brightside by The Killers it brings back lots of happy memories
Favourite Food?
I love good comfort food like sausage & mash but I’m also a self-confessed chocoholic.
Some advice for our young people during this time…..
The biggest piece of advice I can give is to try and keep busy and keep some structure to your day as it is so easy to fall into the trap of sleeping until really late and lazing around all day. Try and get your daily fresh air and join us on Zoom to keep in touch!
