Record numbers of young people and their families came along to our Youth Festival in Blyth Marketplace last Thursday!
This was the 5th Annual festival that we have organised and the main aim was to showcase the wonderful work that goes on for young people in Blyth and was opened by our local up and coming comedian Kai Humphries from Punch Drunk Comedy.

We understand that the school holidays can be an expensive time so the festival was a free event so there was no pressure to spend lots of money but there was lots of fun activities to get involved with and everyone that attended enjoyed these including- A Rodeo Bull, Bouncy Boxing, Archery, Djing plus great displays by Millennium Martial Arts, Time step dance and Bad Apples. We even had a visit from Spiderman, Iron Man and Batman who entertained the crowd along with our real life superheroes from the fire service! The young people also enjoyed getting arty with creative ginger and created a fantastic cellograph arts display in the market!

Lots of voluntary and statutory organisations were invited to this event and they showcased what they do and how they can help the younger generation of Blyth- these organisations included Blyth rowing club, Travelright, the teenage health team and Newsham Getaway!
There was a Fantastic turnout from the community to celebrate and support the festival, it was great to see everyone coming together to support Silx!
We are looking forward to making next year’s festival even bigger and better!
