Unless you have been living under a rock recently then you will know that on 19th May HRH Prince Harry is due to marry the gorgeous Meghan Markle at a ceremony to be held at Windsor Castle.
A statement from Kensington Palace, has said that Harry and Meghan want ‘members of the public to feel part of the celebrations too’ and with that they have sent out invites to 2,640 people including charity workers, school children and Windsor residentsĀ and they will be able to watch the arrival of the bride and guests, hear the service live and see the departure of a carriage procession after the wedding.
We are very pleased to announced that one of the lucky people to be invited is our Senior Worker Jackie Long and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. Jackie was put forward as one of the nominees from The Lord Lieutenant, her Grace of Northumberland for her outstanding contribution to youth work in the community.
Jackie first became a youth worker in Blyth in 1995 at Ridley High School and was a major part of getting Silx off the ground. Over the years Jackie has helped and supported 1,000s of young people with lots of issues and is a key figure in Blyth for all of the support she has given to young people and their families.
Everyone here at Silx thinks it is incredible that Jackie has been given this honour and we are very proud of her! Well done Jackie we hope you have a wonderful time!
